The Scheme To Deposit ₹500 A Month Could Continue Even After June:-

In order to deal with the financial situation that had arisen during the lockdown tha government had decided to deposit ₹500 a month in Jan-Dhan accounts of poor women. This scheme was launched for 3 months, which is going to end in June. This scheme could be continued even after June. According to a media report many central government officials are advocating to keep the scheme operational. According to the data, in the first two months more than 50% women have not withdrawn the amount deposited in the bank account.

20 Crore Women Are Being Benefitted:-

To deal with the bad financial conditions, the central government is providing this financial help to the poor women of the country through the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna. Around 20 crore women are being benefitted from this scheme. From last week onwards banks has started depositing ₹500 the last installment of the scheme in the bank accounts of the beneficiary women. According to Finance Ministry officials, a budget is being made available for this scheme from the Ministry Of Rural Development.

PMO Has To Decide:-

According to the officials, the final decision to continue this scheme is to taken by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). If the PMO gives the permission for the second round of the scheme so, it will be a step similar to the Universal Basic Income Structure.

50% Beneficiaries Did Not Withdraw The Money:-

However, the data related to withdrawal of money from the bank accounts deposited under this scheme is quite disappointed. According to the data, 50% beneficiaries have not withdrawn this relief amount from their bank accounts in the first two months. Under the scheme, the government has deposited 20 thousand crores in bank accounts in the month of April, May and June.

The Scheme Was Announced In March:-

The central government had announced a relief package of ₹1.7 lakh crore to deal with the pandemic. In this, several announcements were made to relief common people. The scheme to provide ₹500 per month for three months to the beneficiary women of Jan Dhan bank account was also included in it. Under this scheme, this relief amount had to deposite in the bank accounts of poor women in April, May And June.

There Are 38 Crore Jan Dhan Bank Accounts In The Countrty:-

According to the reports recently released by the NITI Aayog, the number of Jan Dhan bank accounts in the country has so far been 38 crores. According to the NITI Aayog, about 53% of bank accounts are of women. These bank accounts are opened on zero balance and there is no cost to the beneficiary to open them.
