Netanyahu Thanked India For Sending Hydroxychloroquine To Israel:-
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sending 5 tonnes of the drug from India. In response, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written on Twitter, “Together we will fight the epidemic.” India is ready to extend all possible help to all its friends. We pray for the better health of the people of Israel. Earlier, US President Donald Trump and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro also thanked Modi. In the consignment of medicine, the anti-malarial medicines helpful in combating the coronavirus crisis are chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine. To provide this, the United States, Brazil, and Israel sought help from India. After this, Modi had assured to end the global epidemic and make these medicines available to humanity.
On Thursday evening, Netanyahu tweeted, “Thank you, my dear friend, Narendra Modi on behalf of all the citizens of Israel for sending chloroquine.” The aircraft filled with medicines arrived in Israel on Tuesday. Israel had asked India to provide chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine drugs on 3 April. After this, India provided the consignment of medicines to Israel on Tuesday. Earlier on March 13, Israel also sought masks and other necessary medical assistance. There are currently more than 10,000 coronavirus cases reported in Israel. 86 people have died. 121 patients are on ventilators.
India Is The Major Exporter Of Hydroxychloroquine:-
India is the major producer and exporter of this medicine in the world. On 25 March, India banned the export of hydroxychloroquine, but on 6 April, at the request of several countries to deal with the epidemic, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) called for the lifting of the ban on the export of 14 drugs, including hydroxychloroquine.
Where Did It Start:-
Chloroquine was initially used for malaria, later it was used as arthritis and pain reliever. Hydroxychloroquine is an advanced version of the same drug. Investigations so far have proved that this drug is effective to some extent in the treatment of corona. Apart from prevention, there is no cure for this disease, hence the same drug is being used.
