But we can apply for a PAN Card online on our own. A PAN Card is an essential document for any financial transaction in India, banks will keep a copy of the PAN Card before opening an account and it is used for income tax purposes.

People who wanna get a PAN Card can apply online. The websites to look after for the PAN Card Apply Online Process are NSDL and UTIITSL. NSDL is National Securities Depository Ltd and UTIITSL is UTI Infrastructure Technology/ Services Ltd. Follow the below steps for applying online for the PAN Card at home.  

How To Apply For Pan Card Online?: Complete Steps 

There are two methods to apply for the PAN Card online, one through the NSDL website and the other, through the UTIITSL portal. 

1. Through NSDL Portal 

  1. The first step is to visit the NSDL Limited website https://www.tin-nsdl.com
  2. Now, choose the Type of PAN Card application out of Form 49A for Indian citizens and Form 49AA for foreign citizens.
  3. The next step is to pick a category like individuals, associations, or bodies of individuals. 
  4. Write the details of the individuals such as full name, DOB, email ID, and Mobile Number.
  5. Review the details of the Checkbox and mark them accordingly.
  6. Press the Submit button and tap on Continue with PAN Card Application form.
  7. The next step is to attach the supporting documents with the PAN Card form. It is a digital KYC process, you can upload scanned copies of docs or main documents. 
  8. In the next step, the form will ask you to enter the area code, Assisting Officer/AO, and other information. The details of this info will be given on the same page. 
  9. The individuals can complete the e-KYC with the help of an Aadhar Card Number. When you give the Aadhar Card Number, an OTP will be sent to your phone number, put the OTP in the online form for verification.
  10. Aadhar Card can be used for verifying the DOB and address, Select the Aadhar Card and tap on proceed.
  11. The next step is to pay the fees, you can complete the payment process with your debit card, credit card, DD, or Net banking.
  12. To authenticate the details, you should click on the Authenticate button with your Aadhar card. 
  13. For Authenticaion Process, the organziation wil send an OTP to yiur mobile number.
  14. Use the OTP to verify the e-KYC.
  15. Submit the form.
  16. Now, the next step is to e-sign the application form and press the continue button for e-sign. The e-sign process will ask you to enter the OTO received on the mobile number. Put the OTP to the mentioned file.
  17. After this, you will receive the acknowledgment slip in the form of a PDF. The person can save the pdf and open it. To open the PDF, you need to enter the Date of Birth. The DOB will be entered in the form of DDMMYYYY.

2. Through UTIITSL Portal 

  1. Move to the portal of UTIITSL Limited https://www.utiitsl.com.
  2. Choose the PAN Service Option, A new window will open, Choose the option of PAN CARD for Indian Citizen or NRI. Here is the link https://www.pan.utiitsl.com/panonline_ipg/forms/pan.html/preForm.
  3. Select the option of applying for a new Pan Card, it is the Form 49A.
  4. You will see two options, Physical Mode or Digital Mode.
  5. In the Physical Mode, the applicants are required to fill out the application form and sign it. Submit the filled and signed form to the UTIITSL office that is nearest to your area. 
  6. In digital mode, the applicants are required to fill out the Pan Card form online and sign it online. The Signing process will be carried out through the Aadhar Card Number. 
  7. Now, you have to write the name, DOB, Mobile number, email ID, address, etc in the online PAN Card form.
  8. Recheck the online data of the PAN Card form and submit it.
  9. The next step is to pay the payment for the PAN Card fees. You can use your debit card, credit card, or Net Banking to pay the fees for the PAN Card form.
  10. Save the payment confirmation receipt.
  11. Save the PAN Card application form along with the payment receipt. Print them. Paste the photo and sign the form.
  12. Fix the hard copies of the docs with the PAN Card form.
  13. Submit the Filled PAN Card form, Payment Receipt, and Documents, to the closest UTIITSL office within 15 days of applying. 
  14. You can submit these by hand or through the courier service. 

How To Apply for a PAN Card Offline?

Individuals can apply for the PAN Card through the Conventional method Offline, We will enlighten the steps of applying for a PAN Card offline, if you want to apply offline, you can easily apply using the following steps.

  1. You need to save the PAN CARD Form 49A. You can get the From 49A on the UTIITSL web portal or the Income Tax web portal. 
  2. Go for the printout of the soft copy of the form 49A.
  3. Write the information on the PAN Card Form 49A carefully.
  4. Attach the photographs on the PAN Card form in the available space.
  5. The next step is to pay the fees for the PAN Card, you can submit the payment using the demand draft service of the bank. The DD will be in favor of NSDL – PAN for the MUMBAI UTITSL.
  6. Now you have to secure the hard copies of address proof and DOB proof with the PAN Card form and self-attest them.
  7. The last step is to put the PAN Card form, DD, and documents in an envelope and submit them to the specified address on the website.

Application Fees For Applying for a PAN Card

The Indian Govt will ask you to pay application form submission fees for the PAN Card Application form whether you are applying online or offline. The Indian Citizen with an Address of India needs to pay an amount of RS 93 along with GST and the persons who have a Foreign Address, will be asked to submit an amount of RS 864 along with the GST.
